What Is Cardiovascular Testing?
Heart disease is a leading cause of death among men and women in the United States, making it extremely important to identify and treat cardiovascular conditions as early as possible. At Horizon Medical Center, we are passionate about helping patients maintain heart health. Our board-certified physicians have advanced experience in diagnosing and treating cardiovascular conditions, and we have one of the top lipidologists in the Chicago area on staff. To screen for and monitor heart disease, we perform a number of cardiology tests on-site at our Schaumburg, IL family practice. These tests can detect the early stages of heart disease and other cardiac concerns, allowing our doctors to prescribe treatments that could help lower your risk of a heart attack or stroke. If you or a loved one has a confirmed or suspected heart condition, we encourage you to call our facility today and schedule an appointment for cardiovascular testing.

What Are the Different Types of Heart Tests?
Horizon Medical Center proudly provides comprehensive cardiovascular testing to screen for hypertension, coronary artery disease, peripheral vascular disease, high cholesterol, and other types of cardiac conditions. The types of heart tests our Schaumburg, IL physicians perform include:
- Electrocardiogram (EKG or ECG): An EKG uses electrical impulses to scan for abnormalities in heart function that could indicate the presence of heart disease.
- Treadmill Stress Test with Nuclear Heart Scan: We perform treadmill stress tests paired with nuclear heart scans to diagnose blockages in the arteries of the heart.
- Echocardiography: Echocardiograms utilize ultrasound energy to generate an image of your heart, enabling our physicians to evaluate cardiovascular function.
- 24-Hour Holter Monitoring: A Holter monitor is a small device worn on the body for a consecutive 24 hours. It measures your heart rate and rhythm and can help our doctors diagnose arrhythmias and other cardiovascular problems.
