If you are looking for a good Spokane pediatric doctor, check out Northwest Spokane Pediatrics. Here, we will care for your child from birth through college. We can treat asthma, adolescent medicine, newborn care, behavior disorder, and ADHD.
Newborn Care
From the day the child is born we provide quality Pediatric Care. The first 28 days after birth is considered the transition time because the family is transitioning to life with a new baby. People relate pediatricians to dealing with shots and illnesses we do much more. We can guide you through the trying times of transition. For the new parent, the areas of feeding, sleeping, and development are something a pediatrician can guide you through.
Asthma
One of our Specialties is asthma. Asthma is a condition affecting the Airways. It is a long-term disorder. During an asthma attack, the Airways constrict and become swollen. Many times there is added mucus. This is called an exacerbation. During an exacerbation, it becomes hard to move air through the lungs. Many things can cause an asthma attack. Allergies, smoke, extreme temperatures, pet dander, and emotional stress are just a few. When exposed to these triggers, a person with asthma may experience wheezing, chest tightness, shortness of breath, and coughing. Asthma generally responds well to bronchodilators, like Albuterol. These symptoms can range from mild to life-threatening. In between the asthma attacks, the patient feels very well. However, the patient must stay on medications and have an emergency inhaler with them at all times.
Behavior Disorders
Our pediatricians also treat behavior disorders. Our Spokane pediatric doctors at Northwest Spokane Pediatrics knows that children are not good at telling you how they feel. Even though they suffer from disorders such as anxiety, depression, bipolar, oppositional defiance, and others, they do not know how to voice what they are experiencing. Some children have developmental problems that make it even harder. Some of these may be autism, pervasive developmental delay, and Asperger’s Syndrome. Here at Northwest Spokane Pediatrics, we treat children with these disorders. Through medication counselors, and the parents help, a child’s situation can improve. The team must find a solution that helps the child feel better without turning them into and medicated “zombie.”
ADHD
ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) is another disorder that affects a lot of children. It is also one of the most misdiagnosed disorders amongst kids. People tend to believe that if a child acts out, then they must have ADHD, but this is just not true. We can assess to help determine if it is ADHD or something else causing your child to act out.
Adolescent Medicine
One of the most challenging areas of medicine that we specialize in is Adolescent medicine. Our Spokane Pediatric doctor is an expert in Adolescent care. The time of puberty and the hormonal changes accompanying it can be confusing to patients and parents alike. We can guide the young person through this time and help them with the changing medical needs as well. Many have been seeing the doctors here since they were young, so it is easier for them to talk to the doctor about the way they feel.
